Can I Talk to Your Grandma? Podcast

The Brief

Can I Talk To Your Grandma (CITTYG) is a personality-driven podcast built around conversation, nostalgia, humor, and cultural storytelling through the lens of “grandma energy.” The goal was to create a brand identity that felt eclectic, playful, and instantly recognizable — without becoming kitschy or chaotic.

The brand needed to:

  • Capture warmth and personality while maintaining strong visual cohesion

  • Balance vintage inspiration with modern execution

  • Feel expressive and collage-inspired, yet strategically structured

  • Translate seamlessly across digital platforms, podcast artwork, social content, and merchandise

The identity had to feel curated and memorable in a crowded podcast landscape.

Creative Direction

The visual direction draws inspiration from eclectic, vintage “grandma-esque” objects reimagined through a curated collage aesthetic. Referencing a stylized, almost cinematic composition approach, the brand uses carefully arranged symbolic imagery to create personality without visual overwhelm.

Design choices prioritize:

  • Structured eclecticism

  • Intentional composition

  • Playful contrast

  • Visual storytelling through objects and symbolism

The result is a brand that feels expressive and personality-forward while remaining highly controlled and adaptable.

Outcome

The final identity delivers a distinctive, collage-driven visual system that stands out in podcast directories and social feeds. It successfully captures the charm and humor of “grandma culture” without relying on cliché or gimmick.

The brand is flexible across digital and print applications, scalable for future growth, and cohesive enough to support ongoing content creation. By combining nostalgic inspiration with modern structure, CITTYG now has a visual identity that feels warm, memorable, and unmistakably its own.
